Al Simons

Founder and Managing Member

Combining his passion for community service and the home healthcare industry with a wealth of business experience, Al founded Specialty Care Services in 2002.


As a transformational leader with foresight and imagination, Al has an impressive history of surpassing ambitious business goals and delivering revolutionary solutions to government and private clients. He has a consistent record of positioning his company for success, spurring multimillion-dollar sales growth by opening new revenue streams and building highly accomplished teams that demonstrate profound dedication to operational excellence.


Prior to his success at Specialty Care Services, Al served as the Executive Director of the Private Pay Homecare Division of Adventist HealthCare, one of the largest healthcare companies in the Washington metropolitan area, where he built a team of highly credentialed staff and generated millions in recurring annual revenues.


Demonstrating both an entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial spirit, Al has an innate ability to quickly identify and actualize valuable ideas, employing strategies that maximize organizational capabilities.


Al holds bachelor's degrees in both Business Administration and Finance from Morgan State University.

Pearl Xu

Clinical Nurse Manager

A calm, kind, and thoughtful person who enjoys helping people, Pearl provides daily oversight of the Nurse Monitoring Division, ensuring clients receive the highest quality care and services.


Through Nurse Monitoring, Pearl is able to establish meaningful and lasting relationships with many clients, and she finds it incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact home care services can make in a client's life. In addition to working with clients, Pearl also ensures adherence to quality care in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.


Pearl began her career in home health care in 2015. Initially, she was drawn to the field due to the flexible schedule and ability to establish lasting relationships with the clients and their families through monthly visits. After working in the field for a few years, Pearl realized that home healthcare providers can change lives by helping clients remain safe and comfortable in their own homes and communities.


Prior to working at Specialty Care Services, Pearl worked in an in-patient Psychiatric and Geriatric Unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus in Baltimore, MD.


Venise Davis

Client Services Manager

An excellent communicator who enjoys fostering relationships with employees, patients, and external vendors, Venise wears many hats at Specialty Care Services. Venise is responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling medical field staff to ensure that all homebound patients are matched with the appropriate medical personnel.


In addition, Venise also works closely with the Human Resources department to ensure that staffing requirements are met and that employees are working in a friendly, supportive environment. Venise works with payroll to ensure correct employee compensation. She is responsible for timekeeping and time off requests, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and regulations, and preparing and submitting reports on staffing operations.


Venise is currently pursuing a degree in business at the University of Phoenix. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her two-year-old grandson, reading, and having family movie nights on Fridays.

Venise Davis

Amy Fass, BSN, RN
Nurse Manager

A passionate advocate of elder care while maintaining independent living , Amy uses her clinical leadership and mentoring skills to make a positive difference in the careers of our unskilled visiting staff. She provides clinical support, including home assessments for our Montgomery County Government In Home Aides Program (IHAS) and oversees all of the agency's unskilled visiting staff for this program as well. .

Amy brings over 40 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with clinical knowledge in community health, case management, home health, pediatrics, outpatient surgery and intensive care. . Amy is the proud mother of 3 children, two of which have followed in her footsteps in the medical field. In her spare time, Amy loves to stay active and spend time with her family.


Denetra Gary

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Experienced in providing an array of services to address complex needs for both patients and families, Denetra arranges, coordinates, monitors, advocates and evaluates care needs to help ensure clients feel safe and stable in their homes. From evaluating at-home services and long-term care placement to helping coordinate transportation, meal delivery and medical care, Denetra enjoys working with families to find appropriate care solutions.


Denetra received her Master of Social Work degree from Howard University and her Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She has more than ten years of experience in the field of social work, case management, and mental health counseling, and she is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland, Nevada, Indiana, and North Carolina.

Diane Yang

Administrative Assistant/Biller

Drawn to the home care industry because she believes in making a difference for clients and families, Diane helps to ensure that the office is running smoothly and that the day-to-day administrative tasks are handled efficiently in order to meet the care needs of clients and families.


In her role at Specialty Care Services, Diane provides administrative support and handles billing for the Clinical Manager and Nurse Monitoring Division. In addition, she provides support for the In-Home Aide Services and emergency and non-emergency CNA staffing needs.


Diane began working in the home care industry nine years ago as an administrative assistant/CNA at a family-owned home care company while attending school. Diane believes that helping clients in a meaningful way is a privilege and she is passionate about continuing to grow and learn new things in her role.
