Gatorade has announced that they would be removing the ingredient, brominated vegetable oil (BVO), within the next couple of months. Why?

BVO is a flame-retardant chemical.

So what?s it doing in a ?health drink?? You?d be surprised. If “truth in labeling” was entirely “truthful”, instead of seeing descriptions on food labels like “natural flavoring” you?d be seeing instead: “carcinogens,” “paint chemicals” and “Beaver Anal Gland Juice

Here are some of the scary ingredients in your food:

Acesulfame Potassium (Acesulfame-K) is a calorie-free artificial sweetener 200 times sweeter than sugar used to mask bitter aftertastes. It can be found in more than 5,000 food products, including diet soft drinks and ?no-sugar-added? ice cream. Though the FDA has approved it, animal studies have linked the chemical to lung and breast tumors.

Aspartame is a nearly-zero-calorie artificial sweetener 180 times sweeter than sugar most commonly used in diet soda, yogurts and sweeteners. ?That?s the good news. The bad news is thousands of complaints about neurological symptoms and rare cases of epileptic seizures. ?While some studies show aspartame as harmless, others indicate that it might be responsible for a range of cancers.

Titanium Dioxide is a component of titanium, used in paints and sunscreens. The food industry adds it to hundreds of products – salad dressings, coffee creamers, and icings to whiten their appearance. Titanium is a mined substance that is sometimes contaminated with toxic lead.? Your health is better protected with an olive-oil or vinegar-based salad dressing.

Castoreum is found in Vanilla or Raspberry flavoring in processed foods, and labeled only as “natural flavoring.” Not surprising, since it’s really Beaver Anal Gland juice. Beaver’s combine it with urine to mark territory. Need we say more?
